Campaign Setup Guide for Agencies
Managing campaigns on behalf of clients in the Audiohook platform
Start a New Campaign
- Go to the Campaigns tab in the left navigation in client account.
- Click + New Campaign.

1. General Campaign Settings
Fill in the following fields:
- Campaign Name
- Start and End Dates
- Pacing Strategy
- Total Budget (either by dollar amount or impression total)
- Max Daily Budget (input required for "Fixed Daily" pacing; strongly recommended for "As Fast As Possible")

Pacing Options:
- Even - Adaptive Daily (Default)
- Even - Adaptive Lifetime
- Fixed Daily (requires max daily budget)
- Front Loaded
- Back Loaded
- As Fast As Possible
Choose pacing based on your client's needs and campaign timeline.

2. Audience Targeting
Geolocation
Campaigns must include geolocation targeting. This is a required field to avoid unintentionally serving impressions in unintended locations. You can enter:
- ZIP codes
- Cities
- States
- Countries
⚠️ Entering at least one valid geographic target is required.

Audience Segments
Add audience segments by selecting from:
- Saved audiences
- Creating a new one via + New Audience
You can add one or more audience segments using the Audiences section. These include:
- First-party data (like CRM lists or site visitors)
- Retargeting website visitors requires the Audiohook pixel to be placed on site and verified
- Third-party segments
- These have their own CPM costs that will come out of the Max CPM, keep this in mind when selecting and when setting max CPM
- Contextual categories (podcasts only)
- Verified Contextual - uses transcriptions of episodes to find topics discussed within episode
- Declared - What genres podcaster or publisher declared overall for their podcast
When building or editing a campaign, you can include multiple audiences and control logic using:
- AND – users must meet all selected audience conditions
- OR – users can meet any selected audience condition
- EXCLUDE – prevents the campaign from serving to users in the excluded audience
- Add at least one audience to include.
- Add the audience you want to exclude.
- Toggle the audience logic between them to “Exclude.”
To exclude an audience:

3. Inventory Selection
- By default, campaigns target all Podcasts, Digital Radio, and Streaming Music
- Emerging Inventory is not selected by default
- Use toggles to include/exclude inventory types
- Inventory playlists not recommended as an updated targeting is coming soon and playlists require additional setup on backend to work in current layout

Brand Suitability (Podcasts Only)
Enable under Inventory > Podcasts by toggling Brand Suitability.
- Select providers and thresholds
- Applies only to podcasts, not music or radio

4. Creative Assets
Creatives are composed of the following:
- Audio Assets (required — add one or more)
- Companion Banners (optional — rarely seen in audio environments)
- Tracking Pixels (optional — must select “Start” to track campaign)
You can upload new assets from the Assets tab on the left or directly during campaign setup.
- If you assign multiple creatives, budget is split evenly by default
- Ratios or percentage-based weights are supported
If you see an alert on the tracking pixel, it may indicate an error. Contact support@audiohook.com or your account manager if unsure.

5. Optimization & Attribution
This section includes:
- Max CPM: Includes all costs for 3rd party audiences and platform fees. Default is $16. System will automatically find optimized bidding value to keep under max if possible.
- Campaign Goal: Website Visits or Purchases (requires Audiohook Pixel placed + verified)
- Goal Optimization:
- No Optimization: Default if pixel not installed
- Partial: Budget pacing prioritized
- Full: Performance prioritized; may under-deliver
- Frequency Goal: Optional control on ad exposures per user

6. Summary & Submission
- Review all campaign details
- Save as a Draft anytime
- If you receive a budget error, contact your agency’s Audiohook account manager or email support@audiohook.com

Campaign Management Tools
Customize Campaign View:
- Use Customize Columns to show/hide columns
- Sort columns by clicking headers (ascending/descending)

Duplicate a Campaign:
- Use the icon in the Actions column
- Set a new name and start and end date for the new campaign
- Newly duplicated campaigns are inactive by default
- You can still update assets, targeting, pacing, etc. (except budget type)

Archive a Campaign:
- Use the icon in the Actions column
- Toggle the Show Archived at the top to see all archived campaigns
- Contact support to unarchive if needed

🔧 Troubleshooting Tips
- If there’s zero spend, check account status (Account Details page)
- Review max CPM vs eCPM if under-delivering
- Possibly too narrow targeting. Test by layering elements in separate test campaigns
Poor performance?
- Check if Audiohook Pixel is installed and verified to enable campaign optimization features to improve performance
- Check for problems with the audio creative (out of season, possible listener fatigue, unclear call to action, etc)
