Understand CPM pricing models in Audiohook and how they impact your campaign costs.

Audiohook supports two CPM-based models: Fixed CPM and Cost Plus. Both charge based on cost per thousand impressions (CPM) but differ in guarantees, billing, and reporting.

What it is:

  • CPM and total impressions are pre-determined and guaranteed.
  • Costs do not fluctuate based on marketplace conditions.

How it works:

  • Agree to a fixed CPM and impression volume in your insertion order (IO).
  • Audiohook guarantees delivery of the contracted impressions for the agreed budget.

When itโ€™s used:

  • Typically managed service campaigns, where Audiohook handles media buying, delivery, and pacing.

Example:

  • Campaign: 1,000,000 impressions
  • Fixed CPM: $12
  • Total Cost: 1,000,000 รท 1,000 ร— $12 = $12,000

๐Ÿ”น Cost Plus (Programmatic Model)

What it is:

  • Advertiser pays for actual media cost plus a platform fee.
  • CPMs are estimated, not guaranteed.

How it works:

  • Audiohook buys inventory programmatically across exchanges to achieve the best CPM.
  • The total cost includes media cost + platform fee, combined into the total effective CPM shown in reporting.
  • Final CPM may be lower or higher than the estimate.

Formula:

Total Cost = Total Impressions รท 1,000 ร— Effective CPM

Example:

  • Campaign: 500,000 impressions
  • Max CPM setting: $6.50 ($3,000 budget with estimated 461K+ impressions)
  • Effective CPM: $6
  • Total Cost: 500,000 รท 1,000 ร— $6 = $3,000

When itโ€™s used:

  • Default for self-serve advertisers.
  • Managed service campaigns may also use it when flexibility or optimization is preferred.
